More Borrowing in 2024 for Home Sustainability
Are you in the process of buying a house or considering energy-saving measures in 2024? Wait a moment! In this article, you'll discover how to make smart financial moves and explore new opportunities.
The government aims to encourage home sustainability for homeowners.
When it comes to sustainability, it's currently possible to borrow extra money, up to €9,000, to make a home more sustainable. Starting from January 1, 2024, there will be more borrowing space available for both homeowners looking to make their recently purchased homes more sustainable and those aiming to enhance the sustainability of their current homes.
The amount that can be borrowed extra depends on the energy label of the purchased property. The higher the energy label, the more additional financial space there is. For instance, for a home with an energy label C or D, you can borrow an extra €5,000, while for energy labels A or B, €10,000 will be available. For improving the sustainability of an existing home, there could be an extra borrowing capacity of €20,000 for energy labels E, F, or G, and €15,000 for energy labels C or D.
Single individuals looking to buy a home will also have more financial opportunities. If their income is €28,000 or higher, the additional borrowing space will be €16,000. Not bad!
Do you have a study loan? Starting from 2024, the assessment will take into account the current burdens of the study loan, including any extra repayments made.
